Blocking for Bryce Love -

At the very end he credits his blockers. Kyle Murphy took at least two defenders out of the play and Devon Cajuste sealed off a defender on the outside. That was more than enough space for Bryce Love.
Geaux Cardinal!

I would have to say that's the most exciting play I've seen by a Stanford player since . . . 2013. ::)

I would love to see Love and McCaffrey together in the backfired, and watch the bad guys decide who to key on.

That would be great. Right now, they're keying off CMac out of the I.

Interest lay, Rule of Tree just posted a link to a Trojan site with their "preview" of the game. Doesn't even mention Love. Just McCaffrey.

One other nice feature about the play was that it was a play fake. Not sure who the runner was (Sanders?) but it was a fake handoff going right, and then a quick bubble screen going left. I wonder if there was an option component to that; the bubble screen only works if you have enough blockers to take out the defenders (which might have been enabled by the fake, if we caught a linebacker taking a step in the wrong direction).

We've run this play a lot in the past -- particularly Montgomery.

Good points BC. The fake handoff was to Sanders.

You can see six Stanford players committed to the "fake" side and four to the "go" side. Great design and execution.

Indeed the MLB follows Sanders and takes himself out of the play. That leaves just three UCF players to try to get to Love; the weakside linebacker, the cornerback, and the strong safety. Murphy and Shuler took care of the Will (and Shuler maybe got away with just a touch of a hold), and then Murphy takes care of the defensive end (who came all the way across the field), and Cajuste (I think) takes care of the cornerback. The free safety took a bad angle and Love basically beat him one on one. The strong safety dove at his feet, but Love was able to keep his balance and then he was off.
