This, like other attrition we've seen (Broadus and Clark at UCLA), seems more likely to hurt in the future than the present. The Ikenna Nwafor brand of attrition, we'll call it.

Under Dyke.s, Ca.l will never suffer from inadequate WR depth, though they will be young at WR next year for sure. Brown wasn't going to play this year anyway, because...
Think Town at USC as an analog; big-time recruit who was out-played, in Brown's case, by lower rated recruits in his class at same position. Then throw academic struggles on top. He seems to be staying enrolled at the school, so that's good for him. Who knows if he'll ever make it back to the football team, but honestly, how less productive could Brown be than Francis Owusu, a third year WR who has done next to nothing at Stanford after being a 4 star recruit himself.
