Article in local Houston paper (Link to article) talks about Deante Gray's verbal to Stanford. Says he is a three time district champion in 100 Meters which sounds pretty amazing. I think that means he's won district every year from Freshman at 15 to Junior at 17. Says 4.3 in 40 yard dash. He trains with Carl Lewis' club and is trying to qualify for the Junior Olympics. The Bootleg has an even better interview/article on him.

The quickness will have an impact. He plays for a lousy HS so he may be even better than he's rated.

If he runs in Houston, he's good. I'm glad to hear the Junior Olympics has come back to prominence. When I worked at Track & Field News, the editor-in-chief told me the publication didn't cover it because the editors did not think it was important enough.
