The rivalry protection certainty thing likely will have less support. And FWIW - it doesn't matter as much to me. I know I will be at Big Game if it starts at 10AM or 10PM. In some ways, the rivalry games are the easiest to justify starting at 7PM since the rivalry game fans and players likely are not too far from hom. It is a long night, but the Low APR U kids still got home at a good hour. Under Stanford Control and UCLA would be in a similar not too late return situation. Same for Oregon and OSU.Â
well this year for Rivalry games (all local times below), ours was the only one that started after 1:30pm local time
- Big Game Sat 21 Nov 7:30pm
- UA @ ASU Sat 21 Nov 1:30pm
- WSU @ UW Fri 27 Nov 12:30pm
- OSU @ UO Fri 27 Nov 1:00pm
- UCLA @ Under Stanford Control Sat 28 Nov 12:30pm
- CU @ UU Sat 28 Nov 12:30pm

Am I the only person who prefers our 7:30 start to all of those other ones? I'd rather the game be at night than have to wake up at 6AM to get a proper Big Game tailgate in...

Uh, those teams play the weekend before Thanksgiving every even year, when Under Stanford Control plays ND the weekend after Thanksgiving. That's why we always seem to play UCLA on the final week of even years.

The real question is why are we slaves to Notre Dames scheduling, we don't get any money from them. Or do Stanford and Cal still refuse to play Big Game Thanksgiving weekend too, for some reason?
