Well, Utah is making it a game.  Now 27-24 USC.  Still Darnold is 16/24 for 236 yards, and Davis has 126 yars rushing.  The offense seems to be performing better, though it is hard to tell if that is Darnold making a difference at QB or Utah's vaunted defense not being as good as ours.  Utah has been more or less moving the ball (197 yards passing on 15/23 for Williams, and over 150 yards on the ground).

Gotta give it to Utah.  With 4th and 1 at the 23, most coaches would have kicked the tying field goal.  Instead, Utah went for it, got the conversion and then scored a touchdown on the very next play to take the lead with 16 seconds left on the clock.

SC will lose Juju, Adoree, Davis and others. The NCAA penalties have crippled the program. Not enough depth, can't recover from significant injuries. The only guy who could get them ready after Carroll was Ed O. Maybe they will hire the coach from Bishop Gorman a la Faust.

Sanctions ended 2 years ago; the first class post-sanctions are now juniors.  USC will not be great until they stop with this obsessive idea that only USC insiders without experience qualify for the jobs as AD or as head coach.  And maybe instead of thinking of the Carroll era as USC returning to greatness, maybe it is better to think of it as the exception that has punctuated 40 years of mediocrity.  Maybe mediocrity is harsh, but they have not been elite except for that brief period under Carroll.

Stanford perhaps learned the false start secret against Oregon last year,  uses it against SC. SC immediately uses it against Utah. While i think the trick's days are numbered, it would be funny if Utah uses it next week against Cal, and the false starts move from game to game, and from team to team. Note how Stanford never whined about two critical fourth quarter miscues leading to turnovers against Oregon last year -- which potentially cost them a playoff birth, but SC cries about it all week because it will potentially cost them a trip to the Cactus Bowl. Tip to SC: if you're going to use a new trick play, don't whine about it being used against you. Bad on Whittingham for not taking notice.

UCLA's Coach Mora said he will talk about poossible simulated snap counts to the officials before today's game, though, whatever is happening is not necessarily illegal. To my understanding, only verbal interference is illegal, certain sounds, like clapping, are not. And even if the defensive adjustment calls caused SC problems, in college, you get a warning first and after that it's just 5 yards.

They could be playing the goddamn ISIS JV squad and I would still be rooting against them. ***** them and ***** the ***** media that fellate them at every possible opportunity. ND could go 0-12 for 10 season in a row and talking heads would still be yapping about their tradition and how THIS YEAR IS THE YEAR.
