We have two first place votes, and closed the gap from Okie State from 42 points to 35 points. A win against Oregon would most likely leap-frog us over the Cowboys, as they play Texas Tech.
Also to note, we have a comfortable lead over Bama with 100+ points in the Harris and 92 points in the Coaches. I see no way in the BCS standings that Bama is ranked ahead of Stanford, but one can never count on these wacky computers.

When/if the Cowboys beat the Sooners they will zip right on past Stanford. OK State has to pick up a loss for Stanford to get ahead of them. Although I would be OK if LSU picks up a loss. LSU still has to play Arkansas and probably the SEC East champ. Honestly, that is probably the tougher path at this point.Â

Stanford is #2 in the coaches poll, and #3 in the Harris poll. If we're #8 with the computers - same as last week - then the average of the those three is 4.33.
Alabama is #4 in the coaches poll, and #4 in the Harris poll. If they're #4 with the computers, then their average is 4 - slightly ahead of us.
No need to worry about Bama, though. I can't see how they'd be ahead of us at the end of the season if we win out.

It's important to remember that the polls are not averaged into the BCS rankings in an integer fashion- they tally the number of points each team has. So Alabama is much farther away from us than we are from Oklahoma State.
This is going to work against us in the very real possibility we end up 2nd in both polls ahead of Oklahoma State, but despite being ahead in 2/3 of the equation, we would be eclipsed by their computer lead combined with the slim margin we may hypothetically hold in each poll.

Honestly, if OK State wins out and beats Oklahoma, they probably deserve to go the NCG over Stanford. It is debatable whether they are a better overall team compared to Stanford, since their defense quite frankly is awful.
But it is not debatable that they have the more difficult schedule. And if they come out undefeated, no chance the computers will make up for a slim difference in the polls.

Ugh!
#4 BCS for Stanford.Â
I thought this could happen. What a mess. Stanford will pass 'Bama with a win at Oregon, but it is still annoying that a team with a terrible PK and a mediocre QB could be ranked ahead of Stanford WITH a loss at home.
Thankfully, all three teams ahead of Stanford had possible losses ahead of them. Of course, so does Stanford.
