Since I started this thread, I feel a certain sense of responsibility to report that the Giants have signed Sandoval to a minor league deal. Announced during the game today, according to my frosh roommate who is there.

Heard that Pablo recently took the direct from Boston to San Francisco, and that he will be playing in San Jose this week...not Sacramento.  And sure enough, here he is on San Jose's roster:

This move is akin to the Mets signing Tim Tebow.  It seems impossibly unlikely that Panda would figure in some sort of Giants turnaround plan. He will be 32 next year.  Can only conclude this is a desperate attempt to put butts in seats in August before the September call-ups.
