As there is no game this week, and Stanford appears out of the playoff hunt, my mind has drifted to the next best chance to get into the CFP, in 2018, and thoughts about Stanford's team might look like then.Â
I keep coming back to WR as the position Stanford may take a tremendous step forward. Look at this possible depth chart:
JJAW - Irwin - Stewart - Wedington all return.
Then you get Osiris St. Brown and Simi Fehoko (who is a tremendous deep threat), plus at minimum Michael Wilson (who looks really talented) , and possibly Amon Ra St. Brown, the #1 WR recruit in 2018.
Even if the younger St. Brown doesn't sign with Stanford, this would have to be the deepest and most talented WR corps Stanford has ever had. Got to give Shaw and staff a lot of credit for building depth at the skill positions that have been historically thin at Stanford.Â
Now just need to do it with the DL and Stanford will be a national championship contender.Â
