Meanwhile, Stanford dropped 3 places in Connelly's S&P+ rankings to #19 and 2 places to #14 in ESPN's FPI.

The team that played in Corvallis on Thursday should not be ranked. Those members of the AP poll who watched the game, I don't know what they saw. If Nall doesn't fumble, we aren't even receiving any votes (yes, credit is due to Harrison "Hodor" Phillips and Peter "the Squid" Kalambayi who made that play).
Meanwhile, Miami had similar trouble with North Carolina and they fell one spot. It looks like East Coast bias might be real. Not in terms of the media favoring teams on the East coast, but in terms of the media more closely watching their games.
These voting polls will roll backstage soon enough as the rankings that really matter come out in two days. Trick or treat.

Yea, the team that did the raze job on Oregon belonged in the top 10. I wasn't trying to say that we should have fallen out of the rankings, but that I didn't understand how we could have beaten Oregon State by one point and then moved up. I expected us to land in the #23-25 range

If voters are rationale and have complete information, then perhaps they take into account that Love did not play vs. OSU and anticipating that he'll return, they believe Stanford more resembles the team that played Oregon than the one that played OSU. I don't really believe they have complete data and are rationale, however...

If voters are rationale and have complete information, then perhaps they take into account that Love did not play vs. OSU and anticipating that he'll return, they believe Stanford more resembles the team that played Oregon than the one that played OSU. I don't really believe they have complete data and are rationale, however...

I think that's giving voters too much credit. Mostly the move up comes from a) not losing and b) having teams ahead of us lose. Never mind that the bare win over Oregon State should have made most voters adjust their view of Stanford downward.

Alabama usually has one or more "near-misses" to other SEC teams that don't affect their ranking at all. The close result is treated as an anomaly, especially when the result matches an earlier bias/decision. As long as you win, you will probably get a pass.
