Cool, now California taxes can be spent on the rest of his contract for not coaching. How Tedfordian of him.
Quote:Bloomgren said hes had inquiries about 10 college head coaching jobs over the years and has been offered an NFL assistants job every year Ive been here.
He has interviewed for some of those jobs, but wont discuss how close he has come to leaving Stanford or which school or pro team has tendered the offers.
For me, its always been: Dont mess with happy, he said. I really feel like my next step is to be a head coach. I dont feel any need to take an offensive-line job in the NFL for just a little bit more money. I dont feel like that helps me towards my goal. I dont feel like taking another college job as a coordinator helps me towards my goal.

I read it that UCLA really wants to hire Kelly, not that Kelly has said yes. As Wilner said, there are reasons to suspect it is not a good fit. It also seems unlikely that the Wasserman money matters very much to Kelly, as he is getting paid by SF and, I think, Philadelphia for quite a while. We will know pretty soon I guess, if it is a yes from Kelly.
Wilner sure thinks Kelly will be the replacement.

This gives them more chance to get another coach in place before commitment date. Of course they also could have waited until after commitment date and then informed new commits that the coach that recruited you wont be around. But that would be wrong......Oh, that's been done before. By none other than Lane Kiffin. I remember, in 2012, keeping this running tally in my mind of all the things Kiffin did that were so rodent-like. It included, in short chronological order:
