Phenomenal offensive rebounding. It bothered me at first they could leave Kaylee so wide open at the elbow every time she touched the ball. But then I realized thats basically a free throw and thus not a high percentage shot for anybody on our team!

Wow, that steal at the end! OSU is a very good team and do not lose much at home. Well coached, shoot well, have a good inside game, and Rueck is really good. This is a very good road win. We do look much improved. Rotation was much shorter, but I think that is sort of how it goes this late, and it has worked - we now have a stable starting five and a defined rotation. As much as I hate to see some of the younger players lose playing time, can't argue with the results. Williams had a great game, as did Carrington. McPhee had trouble hitting early, but was clutch later. Smith played well I thought. Did not hit some makable shots, but played good defense, got some key boards, and avoided fouls mostly. Johnson also had clutch rebounds and some great D. Basically the whole team played pretty well overall, even if outside shooting was not on.
to me the weekend is a success already. A win at UO would be gravy.

She also bails out our atrocious FT shooting, esp. in crunch time as Sniezek misses both of her FTs (but luckily Smith pulls down the o-board), but McPhee only gets 1 of 2.

-Our player scout defense, limiting Gulich to 7 points and Tudor to 0(!!!) points. She didn't even attempt a 3-pt shot!!
-Our offensive rebounding: 17, including in critical situations to offset our poor shooting
-Only 6 turnovers--that's awesome to limit extra possessions by the opposition
-Carrington, Smith and Williams helping out McPhee with double digit efforts of their own
-Our offense when we are on a hot streak-a thing of beauty
-Our aggression on defense (9 steals!)
-Our underclassmen, in particular Carrington and Williams, showing they are ready to contribute down the home stretch
What I'm pulling my hair out on:
-6/12 from the charity stripe, including missing 3/4 when we could have iced the game

-Our underclassmen, in particular Carrington and Williams, showing they are ready to contribute down the home stretch
What I'm pulling my hair out on:
-6/12 from the charity stripe, including missing 3/4 when we could have iced the game
-2/19 from 3-pt range--ice cold from long range
-Our offense when we are struggling-players taking low percentage shots and missing layups
In the end, we got the win, but only by 3 points. I think we showed our defense is rounding into shape. When we could deny a tremendous 3 point shooter ANY chances from hitting from long range and limit a great post player to 7 points and forcing her into longer range shots, that is a great defensive game.
Our other starters are contributing more, forcing teams not to collapse onto McPhee all the time. I love the extra effort on the o-boards.
However, our offensive streakiness is still a source of major concern. We can't be too hot and too cold. Despite scoring 21 points in the first quarter, we only averaged 13 pts each quarter the rest of the game.
And then the FT shooting woes continue, nearly letting Oregon State a last chance opportunity to go into OT, if not for Carrington's great steal.
What I love:
-Our player scout defense, limiting Gulich to 7 points and Tudor to 0(!!!) points. She didn't even attempt a 3-pt shot!!
-Our offensive rebounding: 17, including in critical situations to offset our poor shooting
-Only 6 turnovers--that's awesome to limit extra possessions by the opposition
-Carrington, Smith and Williams helping out McPhee with double digit efforts of their own
-Our offense when we are on a hot streak-a thing of beauty
-Our aggression on defense (9 steals!)
