Well, as a fan I’d like a reason to watch. I get the metric thing I really do. And Pillar is metrically challenged. Having said that – he was also fun to watch. And while he was only a 1.0 “war” – he was of more value to the Giants. I know they need to turn over the roster get younger etc. But again I’m a fan - give me a reason to watch. So hopefully they take the $10 million that was going to go to Pillar and use it wisely.

I too love the intangibles Kevin Pillar brings and recognize he is entertaining to see play, but...
Kevin Pillar is like eating a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake and not exercising. Really enjoyable in the moment, but try consuming that diet on a daily basis and being sedentary. You will pay for it in a very bad way down the road.
You are far better off eating a more nutritious meal and doing some heavy exercise to get where you want to be. No, it isn't necessarily fun to see younger players cycle through who may not be as entertaining, but that is the nutrition and exercise it takes to become stronger and more fit. The Giants need to take the hard road to get better, not the easy one that feels good in the moment and got them in the mess they are now in.

And I’ve seen enough of that act. Jaylen Davis – really hasn’t shown much except for a very small stretch at AAA last year. So what you essentially have is: nothing. And Castellanos can’t play CF.

Sounds like Bumgarner doesn't want to leave the Giants. Which means he'd probably take less to stay with Giants than he would demand elsewhere. You KNOW Bumgarner is all about winning, so him wanting to stay with a rebuilding team tells you how much he loves the organization and that he probably wants to be a Giants lifer.
I'm sure the Giants could justify keeping him at some price. The question will be if whatever that is will be enough for Bumgarner.
