Take our five players with the fewest minutes played this year--except for Carrington who is injured and Brewer who has 0 minutes due to injury.  You would get this team:

1 Brown
2 Jump
3 Moschkau
4 Belibi
5 Prechtel

It seems to me that they would not be a bad team, not bad at all.  Especially with the full attention of our coaches focused on them, I bet they would win most of their games.  It almost makes me wish we had a JV season for WBB.  They would be fun to watch.  Plenty of offense there, although defense would need to come along.

I think the all freshman + sophomore with least playing time last year team would do quite well.  Basically it's your team with Jones swapped for Moschkau.  The Jump/Moschkau combination is a little one dimensional since they are spot up 3 point shooters.  Jones changes that with her driving and passing ability.  And Jones is a much better defender than Moschkau.  I think the all frosh + 1 sophomore team would be quite competitive with the starters (Williams, Carrington, Lexie, Jerome, Fingall).

I would agree with you, of course.  Any team with Jones is going to be better than any team without Jones.  But she seems to have cemented her role as 1st string, and has the 3rd highest number of minutes on the team so far.  So she didn't qualify by my original standards.

I would put a lot of money on our third string winning a third string national championship in a route. I'm not sure our starters are even the top 5 in the country, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a WCBB team with so much depth from 1 to 15. In that sense, it's probably Tara's best team from soup to nuts.

We do not lose much when dipping into our bench and Tara has so many options to choose from, depending on game situation and matchup possibilities. She is already a master strategist/tactician, but when you give her the possibilities she has with this roster, I am very excited to see the magic she can work, especially as the season continues and the players get more familiar with one another and the freshmen gain valuable experience.

I think this is much to do with our best recruiting class in years, not just in depth, but also in quality. All four of our freshmen have already contributed in significant ways and they haven't reached double digits in their collegiate careers yet.

As well accomplished as Alanna was and the key contributions Coffee made in big games, having these four freshmen come in and contribute right away, allows Tara more freedom with the depth chart and provides some youthful fearlessness and exuberance. Having Lexie fully recover over the summer and return to the level she was at the beginning of last season is also important.

Hopefully we will be at full strength sooner than later and that will give Tara even more choices to work with. Having a healthy DiJonai and Maya gives us an extremely deep roster.

While I hope to see Carrington and Dodson soon, if we don't see Dodson by the time Pac 12 play gets going, I will begin to wonder if she might become a possible redshirt.  A foot injury sounds minor, but this thing has been keeping her away for many weeks now.  But who knows, perhaps we will see her playing tomorrow :)  I hope so.
