And don’t look now but the second Bracket Watch by The Athletic has Stanford/Boise State as an 11th seed (whatever that slash means) in the division with Villanova as #1 seed, matched up vs 6th seed Florida State.

Slash means they're in the First 4 and have to play a play-in game to be that 11th seed.

Daejon and Wills still out. Add Murrell and the walk-on Neal Begovich to the list today.

Cardinal leads 41-30 at the half. Da Silva and ZW each with 10 points. O'Connell continues to play the point with precision and zero turnovers. Our D is winning this game.

DaLaire is going to be a realllly excellent player, but he needs to resist the 3 pt shot until he has practiced all of summer 2021. They are leaving him wide open.

Delaire has only made one 3 pointer all season. To be fair, no one is shooting 3s today. Cardinal 1 for 13 right now.
I don't think Da Silva has taken a shot this half and we are 8 minutes in. He has barely touched the ball on offense.

And our lead is cut to 1 with 10:49 to play.
4 point lead with 5:02 to play. Cougs are hot from 3 (11-21), which is keeping them in the game. Da Silva with 21/10.
Cougs shooting 52.4% from 3 and 42% overall.

Each referee brings a new household of exposure to the basketball floor. Do you think the two refs without masks (in violation of CA IHE rules & CA worker rules) know that there is only one ICU bed available in Santa Cruz County?
Now a 13 point lead with :37 to play. Smiling.
Cardinal gets the win 75-60. Nice finish with Da Silva taking charge. We shot 49% from the field, but only 17.6% from 3. We had 11 turnovers, which is an improvement on our average. Our points in the paint was a brobdingnagian advantage.

And the CIF cancels basketball for the school year. A wise choice but so sad for the kids.

Even with Davis and Wills out, our depth is big. The Cougs tired. Main difference down the stretch, DaSilva, of course, though he was far from perfect, and Williams' defense on Bonton, which was 95% perfect. Williams is a verrry talented all around player.

Did Da Silva miss an uncharacteristic amount of free throws?
Seems Haase thought so too because Williams shot the technical FTs.
Da Silva had been clutch this year from the line.

Stanford shot 25 of 40 or 63% in 2 point land today. Amazingly, their season average is now 55% in non-3 point shots. They need to be inside the arc because the 3 point shooting continues to be abysmal. Season average now under 30%. So basically this team will go as far as Oscar Da Silva can carry them.
