In the NFL, at least, there was no home field advantage.

For the first time in NFL history, home teams finished below .500 this season, going 127-128-1 overall.

And, of course, the Stanford football team, finished with four straight road wins, which I still think is an impressive accomplishment, even if it isn't quite the accomplishment that it might have been in a regular year.

There's been no home court advantage in the NBA  this season, either.  I think the East teams are -11 on the road, the West teams +14

Although Stanford FB had a losing record at home in 2019, 2020 is the first time Stanford went winless at home (0-1) since 2006 (0-5). FWIW, we were 2-6 at home in 2007.

On the brighter side, the 4-1 road record percentage (.800) was the best since 2016 (5-1).

I love this study! There’s long been a debate as to what degree crowd noise has an impact.

I hope someone reproduces this study with the 2020 college season. 

The article mentions there’s been a downward trend in homefield advantage in the nfl due to improving travel technologies and better, less quirky stadiums.

But I imagine college programs don’t travel as luxuriously and can’t haul as much equipment as nfl teams, and college stadiums/visitor facilities may be more quirky than in the nfl, so I’d be curious to see the extent of homefield advantage for college teams this year.
