Which raises the question, how many times have we won two NCAA national championships on the same day?

How quickly you forget. December 8, 2019. The Stanford Men's Water Polo team won the NCAA title at UOP in Stockton. A couple of hours later, the Stanford Women's Soccer team defeated North Carolina in Avaya Stadium. I was wondering if there was a way I could view both in person, but realized it was a stretch and opted for soccer. Either way, I would have ended up hoarse and happy.

It would be ironic if reducing the number of sports actually helps Stanford. As I am pretty sure at least a few of Stanford's normal Cup rivals will still meet or exceed the maximum number of sports to be tallied.

Not only is it the top class, but we have 4 of the top 5 gymnasts, 5 of the top 10, and 6 of the top 16. Assuming Malone is back next year, I'd say we have a lot to be optimistic about. I'm guessing Malone was the top recruit in his class, if so that would make 4 straight years with the top overall recruit.

It is not only reputable, but it is the only site that ranks male gymnasts coming out of high school.

There is no reason in the world why Malone would not be back next year. Other than injury. It's not like gymnasts can make money doing gymnastics. Leveraging your gymnastics into a better college degree, particularly a Stanford degree, is the only payoff. These guys do NOT have full scholarships by the way. 18 guys have to share 6.2 scholarships.
As a 17 year old Malone was not the top gymnast in the country. Cameron Bock (17) was considered by everyone number one (Michigan) and Bennett Huang (17) (Iowa) was number two. Both of those guys are seniors in college this year. I am assuming that Brody was a year behind in school because he is now a junior. Brody did not do National Championships that last year in high school, so I'm not sure who was considered number one. No one was really ranking guys systematically at the time.
Interesting facts: Bennett Huang went to Palo Alto High. 34 ACT. Not the greatest GPA because he was doing 3.5 hours of gymnastics a day and 2.5 hours of cello practice a day. Really wanted Stanford but could not get admitted. Was offered a spot at every other gymnastics program in the country. Picked Iowa because of the flexibility their music department offered. Michigan music refused to free him up for gymnastics meets. He was admitted to Julliard for graduate school on Friday during the middle of the NCAA meet.
My son competed against all of these guys starting at 10 years old. Bennett is incredibly nice. Bock - not so much. He doesn't know Malone. Hopefully my son's team will do the Stanford Open meet next year.

I appreciate the insight on all of this. I've got a question on the team USA men's national team. I noticed they have a roster, updated from March that lists Malone and Loos. I'm surprised that Loos would be ahead of Briones, is there any particular reason for this, does the national team rate Loos higher right now? Will this roster get updated again before the Olympics?
