Not exactly the same thing, but the
#82 ESPN football recruit just opted out of his senior year of high school to train for college (University of Texas). I can imagine some more of the top ranked high school recruits opting out, particularly if they play in big time leagues (like Texas AAAAAA in Houston).
Not sure how this might impact Stanford. Could we lose the one or two high recruits each year because they want to lock in an option and not worry about not getting admitted? Or would it allow them to really focus on just training and doing what they need for admissions to actually get an acceptance?
