There's another non-college path for juniors in HS, too:

Two 6-foot-9 Florida twins ranked among the top 15 high school juniors in the country -- Matt and Ryan Bewley -- are signing with Overtime Elite, the league announced Friday, marking the first prep underclassmen to sign contracts with an American professional basketball league.

Matt, who is ranked No. 3 by ESPN for the Class of 2023, and Ryan, ranked No. 12, will forgo high school and college eligibility to join the startup league in September for contracts that are expected to pay them each seven figures over the two-year range of the deals, sources told ESPN.

OTE is a well-funded startup for high school players who want to use the league as an alternative training program to traditional high school and college basketball before entering the NBA draft.

It's getting easier to imagine a future where one-and-done types never set foot on a campus.  Despite our recent success in attracting top recruits, we surely will benefit in a system where one-and-dones take alternative paths.

This is a great system and hopefully it will somehow extend to football. The SEC will be adamantly against it but screw them. There are just some kids who have no business going to college.

Not exactly the same thing, but the #82 ESPN football recruit just opted out of his senior year of high school to train for college (University of Texas). I can imagine some more of the top ranked high school recruits opting out, particularly if they play in big time leagues (like Texas AAAAAA in Houston).

Not sure how this might impact Stanford. Could we lose the one or two high recruits each year because they want to lock in an option and not worry about not getting admitted? Or would it allow them to really focus on just training and doing what they need for admissions to actually get an acceptance?
