Conclusion: The bottom line for Stanford is that Tanner McKee is the best quarterback that they have right now. Both in the present and also when looking ahead to the future. He needs to become their franchise quarterback if they want to have the type of success that they are hoping to have. Reading that article, I was reminded that the main reason that Jack West was named the starter against KState was that he was more experienced and knew the system better.  That should have translated into playing better than McKee.  It did not.  In fact, he played worse by almost any measure.  

Now, Shaw has more experience watching Jack West play QB in a real games.  Let's hope this experience will cause him to keep West on the sideline.

Short leash? So, then, you trot West back out there? I don't think so. You ride your best horse until it caves in. You let him make mistakes. You let him make some good plays. You don't yank him. If you do, you blow up his confidence and continue to let the other guy show why he was on the bench. You lose. You fall further into irrelevance. Stanford now starts a QB who's earned the starting role. Let him compete against USC and not his back-up. McKee may not beat the Trojans but at the end of the day he will have more reps, four more quarters and the experience of a complete game going into Nashville next week. You beat Vandy, come home pumped up for UCLA and putting on home uniforms hearing suddenly energized Bruin fans berating you and...who knows?? This team's oxygen is adversity, right?
