Will a Pac-12 team win a bowl game this season? Does it even matter at this point, with (again) no Pac representation in the playoff?
My assumption is the Rose Bowl means a lot more for Utah than Ohio State. This is why I expect Utah to win, and why if they lose, it will look even worse for the Pac-12.
I finally saw a bowl game this year. Well, at least the last half of one. And it might have been the best one of the season. Did any one of y'all see the Music City Bowl between Purdue and Tennessee? Wow, that game was nuts. Went to OT tied at 45. Tennessee had ball first and twice went for it on 4th down instead of kicking FG to take 3pt lead. Never have I ever seen that in a college overtime before.
Tennessee converted on the first 4th down, with the QB barely escaping a sack that would have left them with no points on first OT possession, as he scrambled out of bounds. Then on 4th and Goal from the one, they went for it again, this time after handing off and having runner's forward progress called as stopped, before he reached ball over goal line. Vols' coach was apoplectic, but I know from the 2011 NFC Championship game that when forward progress is ruled stopped, the play is over, regardless of whistle, and there is no replay review allowed.
This game dropped the SEC to what. 1-5 in bowl games this year, after South Carolina somehow beat North Carolina earlier. I'm feeling pretty good about my Michigan pick today as a result :)
