Shaw coached not to lose.  Sarkisian coached to win.  Both UW TDs scored after going for it on 4th down.  Stanford punted on 4th and less than a yard when it could have made a statement and taken control of the game in the 2nd quarter.  You have a great defense, use it!

Nunes looked like Joe Ayoob or Justin Vedder - ghastly QB play

Montgomery dropped at least three deep balls that were catchable

I'm not sure the OL opened one hole all night.

No help at all given to the defense from the offense.

Terrible punting.

That was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a team with Stanford's talent.

This game opens up the questions about Shaw and his decision making again.  If Nunes and the WRs are so bad it makes the season look a lot less fun that it appeared 3 hours ago.

Washington gave everyone else in the conference the gameplan on how teams other than Oregon need to play to beat Stanford.


Stack the line, put 8 or 9 in the box and play up on our wide receivers.  Force Nunes to beat you with his arm or Taylor to run through a wall.  Keep the game low scoring while waiting for Stanford to make mistakes.

The formula was known LONG before Nunes came to the Farm.  If you face a weak QB,  stop the run and make your opponent beat you with the pass.  Even on the pass plays, obvious as they were,  Nunes had better than good enough protection.  The problem wasn't pressure.  It was that Nunes can screw the pooch under no pressure at all.  And our OC + Head Coach can make sure he's put in a position to do that.    If you make it easy for 9 in the box defense to succeed,  they will eventually.

First Half Nunes is the real Nunes.    Second Half (USC) Nunes was a statistical anomally.  Second Half Nunes is really just First Half Nunes.
