Loved what that guy did with Stanford DBs. Fingers crossed we can still get and develop great ones.
In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.

The safety position was Justin Reid and then about 5 years of tire fire.

so they list his title as "Senior Defensive Assistant/Secondary" and have 10 others with coordinator or assistant coach or some combo of the two. The also list six analysts so is he some sort of super analyst?
https://arizonawildcats.com/sports/football/coaches
his profile does say
Quote:Duane Akina returns to the Arizona Football program as a Senior Defensive Assistant in charge of the secondary
https://arizonawildcats.com/sports/footb...akina/5797
which sounds like a coach

Titles are weird these days. In any case, it's also a homecoming for Akina, who was an Arizona assistant coach in various roles from 1987 to 2000. He was even Offensive Coordinator at the Wildcats from 1992 to 1995 under Dick Tomey. OC?

Lots of burn in the last five years.

Fair enough but 5 Stanford DBs were drafted under his tenure and Kyu Blue Kelly should make it 6 on draft day 2 later this year - not bad for a position that has rarely been a strength at Stanford. (2014 Reynolds?, 2015 Richards, Carter, 2018 Reid, 2021 Adebo, 2023 Kelly?). Akina's guys did pretty well in the NFL at previous stops too, particularly at Texas.
Coaching and particularly positional recruiting can be a young man's game and new coaches want their own guys. I get it but I also wish Akina well and appreciate his time with the Cardinal.

Highly regarded prior to Stanford. Everyone loved him first few years. Last few, he had to deal with an anemic pass rush. I don’t care who the DBs are or who coaches them, when a QB sits back without any pressure, the DBs are going to get torched.
