I didn’t realize yesterday but the men 4x100 relay team ran the 2nd fastest ever at Stanford 39.68 just missing the school record. The school record was the world record at the time.
Well, that 1965 record of 39.64 has a "c" next to it. Which generally means "converted." Maybe it was 4 x 110 yards? Also, I'm guessing it was hand timed. So I would give the nod to yesterday's team as far as the record is concerned.
That was not the world record Bob. It was 39.06 at the time, held by the USA Olympic team from the 1964 Olympics.
Leo Young ran a 3:39 1500m this weekend. That's about a 3:56.5 mile.
