All fair and legitimate points, but clearly the Quarterback-U approach (gross oversimplification of Stanford's history) hasn't created that "many years of winning", as our defense has often been sub-par. While I obviously want all of the elements of our game (and, first and foremost, the character of our team) to be as strong as possible, there is clearly more than one way to skin the college football cat (not all of which require a great passing game). Of course, there are many other dynamics affecting our fan base (including the simple alumni number to which you refer, as well as the local "entertainment competition", etc.), but all things being equal, I'd put my money on your "many years of winning" theory, as opposed to Teejers' myopic (in my view) focus on QB production.
