He is set to announce on Thursday where he will commit.  We are one of five schools in the running.  He would be the highest-rated basketball commit in my memory if we get him.  Higher than Brook Lopez, Casey Jacobson, Jason Collins and Josh Childress.

This seems to me very unlikely, but maybe he sees himself as capable of helping bring Stanford hoops back to prominence?

I've heard Duke or Michigan State so I'm not getting my hopes up but weirder things have happened. His dad did play for the Warriors for a long time so he does have some connection to the area. Also can't figure out if he'd take Andy Brown's scholarship or go on an LDS mission for 2 years but we probably won't have that problem to worry about.

Presumably, Parker has a TV set at home with which he can watch actual Stanford basketball being played.

Parker announced recently no mission.  Many athletes have been accepted prior to early admissions so that's not a key.  Parker visited unofficially in August to much excitement but did not take his official.  Sorry not to be.
