The flip side is I have worked in IT consulting for 27 years. There is no doubt that offshoring, H1 and L1 visas have dragged down wages relentlessly over the last 20 or so of those years. I am much better then I was 25 years ago, but make less in real terms. Now it’s not a bad living still, and I will retire soon; but these types of changes are not always a good thing for workers.
I fully expect at least some of the doom and gloom to come true based on what I am seeing in the real world. And much of the data in my specific field is not easily available to train AI and as a result my field looks to be on the slower edge of AI adoption for an IT discipline. Coding as an example doesn’t have the same protection.
