WBB next two games

For what it’s worth, Stanford game notes don’t list Talana or Nunu as probably starters. Still no update on either of them from what I’ve seen but assuming neither is available tonight.

The leagues including ACC have injury reports that are updated on game day. That’s my source. Gamblers rule

Damn. We will have a tough time winning enough games the rest of the season without Agara. It's hard to overstate the effect of losing your best, most experienced player on a young team. My hopes for making the tourney hinged on Nunu coming back last week. Her being injured for additional weeks is really rough. Hopefully the youth can mature quickly. I will be there cheering them on for the rest of the home games regardless of the injuries.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Nunu has also been Stanford's best, stoutest interior defender and rebounder. Stanford is vulnerable without her.
Example - Notre Dame had 50 points in the paint and outrebounded Stanford 45-35. Louisville had 44 points in the paint.

Nunu is not listed on ACC injury report for today so we may see her back in action. Talana still out.

Well at least we ended Q1 with a 2 point lead. (which disappeared fast).

And just like that is snowballed into an 8 point deficit at the half

Virginia has a freshman who has come off the bench to go 4-4 and score 10 points.
We have now tied it up midway through the third quarter.
I guess anyone who still cares is at the game.

End of q3 - Still down 8. The team is taking care of the ball the last few games - only 10 turnovers so far today (+1). But losing badly on the boards and the offense/shooting remains a problem. Agara helps a lot, but so far she is the difference between losing by 10 instead of 20. Fouls are also a problem now.

The entirety of the 8 point deficit after three can be explained by the fat tha Stanford was 8/9 from the free throw line and Virginia was 17/18. Shooting from the floor is pretty much even.

We cut the lead to 3. Well at least the fans who bothered to show up are getting their money's worth.

I’d love for someone to actually analyze how much using a time out to stop bad momentum or diagram a play helps. My guess is much less than conventional wisdom holds. The fourth quarter is a good example; I don’t think Paye took a timeout before we cut the lead from 10 to 3, did she?
On the other hand, time outs to extend the game at the end (eg to advance the ball to midcourt) probably offer a tangible benefit by saving a few seconds from the clock. The thing is they probably only work in a narrow range of scores.

Now tied at 62. Glad to see some fight from the team after being down 10 in the fourth quarter… just hope we have some left down the stretch.
