Talk about cultural differences! At first, I was taken aback by the host's smoking. Then, I noticed the cigarette packs as advertisements on the desk. Then there was this cigarette cartons given as part of the prize. Attitudes have certainly changed.

After the play, Riegels was so distraught that he had to be talked into returning to the game by coach Nibs Price for the second half. Roy said "Coach, I can't do it. I've ruined you, I've ruined myself, I've ruined the University of California. I couldn't face that crowd to save my life.

Ah, a wonderful quote to savor.  Good to know that the long downward spiral of U.C. can be precisely dated to January 1, 1929.
