The reason that the Rose Bowl took TCU instead of Stanford was because of a contractual agreement that each BCS bowl had to take a non-automatic qualifying team every so many years. That won't happen this year.

Quote:And my other point was that it would be much cooler to be in the Sugar Bowl this coming year than the Rose Bowl. Especially because it's chance to knock off a SEC team. I'm sorry but beaten another substandard B1G team just does not excite me. I guess I'm the only one that thinks this.

Playing Missouri, for example, may not be as big an opportunity to make a statement.

Okay, Publius, now's your chance... Say something nice in your next post about Johnny Dawkins and the only story on the evening news shows around the globe will be the total destruction of Miami, which authorities will have traced to the explosion of somebody's head at the Miami Herald...

My friend, who doesn't really follow Stanford basketball much, blurted out, "Coach Dawkins, good to see you! Keep up the good work!" My friend said this with complete sincerity, but Dawkins did a quick double-take, seemingly unsure if he was being messed with. Such is the life of an underachieving college basketball coach, I suppose.
