yes. Dupree WAS that good.   Oklahoma had made the wishbone a famous offense, but abandoned the wishbone offense for the I-formation,  just to make sure that Dupree got as many touches as possible.

The most entertaining part was the recruitment,  with schools sending coaches to live full time in his small Mississippi town to seal the deal.  The family would schedule visits, allowing whatever coach 15 minutes.  He\'d arrive, one of his rivals would be walking out, while the guy who had been waiting on the porch went in.   The coach would take his place on the porch,  then go in when it was his turn...and hold the door for the next coach who had been waiting on the porch after him.  Crazy.

And thanks to the latest NCAA ruling, the next superstar can meet the coaches in the house while a relative tries to auction the star off to the highest bidder on the porch.

I was reminded of the Stanford band (and the Duke crazies) when I read that an Alabama public address person had lost his job over song choices during the Iron Bowl:

Two of the pregame song choices were “Take the Money and Run,” by The Steve Miller Band and “Son of a Preacher Man,” by Aretha Franklin.

I suspect the Auburn folks know they\'re eventually going to get hammered by the NCAA and mean to enjoy  this  season first and pay the consequences later.  

I have no particular opinion on the Voldemort other than I suspect Cam Newton doesn\'t deserve it.

Luck may get his due reward by being drafted first.

You\'ll find that most of us are hoping to see you guys in the Rose Bowl as well.  Partly for Rose Bowl tradition .... but mostly because we have some unfinished business with Wisconsin.   Since you can\'t bring back Ron Dayne - we\'ll all yell "ANDREW LUCK" after every first down just so you feel at home.   We can also explain our band to all the bemused Northerners and try to buddy up with you at your tailgates for the good conversation (or perhaps just the good sausages.)   Plus you wear red too so we\'ll tell all future bowls that all those red wearing folks were from Stanford and put to rest the idea we don\'t travel well.   Hey, it worked last year in El Paso!

Beating up on Oklahoma or West Virginia just wouldn\'t be the same.

My hatred for Oklahoma is orders of magnitude greater than anything I feel toward Wisconsin, but that\'s just because I\'m from Texas :)   I have great respect for the Wisco men\'s crew though I am a little jealous that they have a brobdingnagian student body from which to draw walk-ons...

Should be an interesting two games this weekend :)
