Reminds me of the good old days (mid-late 60's) when Professors led cheers at halftime (Red Hot Profs). Alexander Kerensky was one and so was a Math Prof whose cheer went something like:
Stanford football's really fine
Three point one four one five nine
Stanford football's really fine
Three point one four one five nine

Pi day is such a good idea we should have other math constant days.
Unfortunately e is 2.718 and the Golden Ratio is 1.618.
Anyone got any candidates?
Maybe August 31 for Ideal Gas Constant day?

I will further argue that given rounding Pi day in 2016 may actually qualify more . . . 3.14159 rounding

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

We can't replace pi with tau, because then we'd be deprived of so many jokes. For instance:

These tauists can't leave a good thing alone, can they? The next thing you know they will want us to be changing the spelling to Hoo Tau. Give them 3.14 inches and they will take 63,360 more. When will it end?
