Now that the Big Ten has eliminated itself from the playoff with its embarrassing weekend, we can safely assume the teams than win the ACC, Big 12, SEC, and Pac-12 will be in the playoff.

Stanford didn't lose any opportunity to get there today.  It just lost some margin for error.  Ordinarily any loss would be devastating, but I saw so many good things happen today, and so many anomalies that prevented points from being scored, that I feel better about this Stanford team than I did before it was played. 

I'm quite confident Stanford can be the best team in the conference if it can improve its ability to put points on the board inside the 30.  The defense is plenty good enough.
