Given our lack of depth at the position, the consternation around the DL is justified, but the DB recruiting run that we are on is encouraging. I think most people forget that Stanford and most of the Pac 12 is in nickel coverage the majority of the time which usually means 5 DBs on the field and only 2 DL. Thus, we need twice as many DBs than DL.
We also forget that Shittu was trending ahead of Luders when Shittu got hurt. Thus, we are really replacing 2 big holes (Anderson and Parry) on DL and 2 big holes in the secondary (Carter and Richards were really really good and more elite than Anderson and Parry according to coaches and media recognition).
