I never understood why Stanford and Cal weren't just placed in the South, and Colorado and Utah in the North. I get that the two new teams really wanted an annual trip to Southern California for recruiting, but that could have been done by giving Colorado and Utah the same every year matchup against USC and UCLA as Stanford and Cal have now. Although playing the southern California schools every year is nice for the rivalry, we have lost the rivalry in the standings.
ADD: It's also geographically more correct, since Stanford and Cal are south of Salt Lake City and Boulder.
