Considering the ranking of the South teams this year was UA, UCLA, ASU, U$C, Utah, Colo, really the only thing we lose is playing Colorado 1/2 the time instead of 2/3 the time (and that could easily change in the future). The other schools are all good, and the difference in our chance of beating U$C and UA or Utah each year is probably almost negligible. Guess what, possibly thanks to our insisting on playing the LA schools, we missed UA this year, a top-10 team according to the CFP rankings at the end of the year. Look how lucky we were! Oregon lost to UA, the team we missed. Maybe they would have gone undefeated had they had played U$C instead...
