07 every coaching staff at Stanford does as you suggest.  In some sport coaches are looking at HS frosh, can't talk to them but certainly can look at transcripts.    I was at a WBB game and a 7th grader played.  tanford coaches where there, the team outstanding so reasons other than the 7th grader.  But I do know they followed her from then on.
