It would still surprise me if a coach allowed a player to transfer to a conference foe, let alone your arch-rival. I wouldn't be surprised if, nay, I would anticipate, C'al players would laud their coach for barring a transfer to Stanford. I don't think there'd be that much PR backlash in telling a player they have to at least choose a school outside the Pac12 unless there's a truly compelling human interest side to the story (an no, I don't think playing on the same team as your brother quite meets that bar).

But I'll be more than happy to be the beneficiary if Scarlett ends up fulfilling his potential on the Farm.
