I'm speculating, but it seems possible that Coach Yikes might have been asked by Scarlett (or Haas) whether or not The Low APR 59ers football team would foot the bil for his 1st year (i.e. continue his athletic scholarship) and Yikes said no.  Which brings me to the question:

Will Scarlett (no pun intended vis a vis the Robin Hood reference....) be getting a free ride from Stanford for the first year of his Grad program (whether it be at GSB, MS&E or the Department of Horticulture, or whatever....)?  Somehow, that seems unseemly, at least to me.
