I cheered bringing in an AD with a basketball pedigree but now I'm not so sure. Perhaps Muir's time at Georgetown, Brown, Notre Dame and Delaware taught him the wrong lessons.Â
Perhaps he truly believes that Stanford should be content with a scrappy team, a sleepy arena and an occasional black swan Sweet 16 appearance.Â
After all, Muir wasn't here when Stanford basketball mattered. Only FANS remember walking into Maples before a critical UofA or UConn showdown and feeling an electric atmosphere of anticipation. FANS remember beating Duke and being ranked #1 for most of two seasons. FANS believe that game day at Maples can matter nationally once again.
Doesn't matter. Until MUIR believes Stanford basketball can matter again we never will.

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.
