As momma used to say, "It's all fun and games until ...."Â (You know the rest.)
My Junior year one of my roommates and I played a game we called "murderball" where we each stood at one end of the hallway and tried to throw this ridiculous, brobdingnagian, squishy ball past each other. It was a lot of fun and really hard to get hurt since the ball was so squishy and harmless... until we hit a light fixture and the thing fell out and splintered into a million pieces. Which was sort of fine, since we were nowhere near it when it fell, except that my roommate picked up the largest piece and then accidentally dropped it and big, heavy shards flew into our feet. I'd never actually had blood spurt out of a wound before...
Anyway, I eventually figured out that the thing only fell because half the screws holding it in were missing. The housing people were pretty mad at us until I mention that this was an obvious safety issue that they ignored for god knows how long, then they seemed content to let it die.
