thanks for linking the article. It raises the conundrum well: a global competition is developing for success in various forms, and to what extent does one encourage/help one's children prepare for that competition? It is bad to try to overreach one's abilities, which I think accounts for much stress and problems that many kids go through. But there is really smart, tough, hardworking competition out there, and do our kids want to try to compete with it? What is happiness, and success, for them?
