UCLA now trails by about 231 points.
Geaux Cardinal!
As I understand the calculation, this already includes 45 for men's golf, 25 for baseball, and 73 for softball. That means that UCLA would get an additional 157 points for the highly improbable feat of winning national championships in all three of those three sports. That still leaves a deficit of 74 points.Â
UCLA would have only two remaining sports in which to bridge the gap, men's and women's outdoor track & field. UCLA already scored with 10 women's teams, so the women's track team would only add to UCLA's overall score to the extent they exceed 45.5 points. In other words, assuming the three national championships by UCLA and no further scoring by Stanford, UCLA would win the Cup with Top 15 finishes in both track competitions.Â
Now keep in mind that neither team is ranked for UCLA. The men's indoor team did not score for UCLA and the women's indoor team placed 28th.Â
Also, keep in mind that Stanford is projected to score another 18 points in men's golf and 10 points in women's rowing based on current rankings. If Stanford were to play to form in both those sports, UCLA would need three national championships plus two Top 10 finishes in track.
In other words, this Cup is in the refrigerator.
When I registered here in 2014, TrumpCard seemed like an apolitical user ID...
