The finish by Stackhouse on those last three holes is legendary. Walking to the 17th tee she had just suffered an emotionally devastating (at least to a mortal) reversal. Trailing by one and standing in the middle of the 16th fairway, she was looking over at her opponent who was gingerly trying to tiptoe through the bog to get to her ball. How could Stackhouse NOT have been mentally and emotionally salivating at the prospect of leveling the match? Instead, Davis hit a remarkable shot. Beyond remarkable. Miraculous. AND sinks the putt. Instead of winning the hole, Stackhouse loses another hole and her opponent is dormie as they stand on the 17th tee! Her inner strength is impressive. To then close birdie, birdie to halve the match and force extra holes is beyond comprehension. A lifetime achievement. And yet I think she may have more in store for us.
