Speaking of assuming things based on names.  My wife's friend and former co-worker is a Blonde-haired, blue eyed Greek named Jennifer with an appropriately Greek sounding maiden name.  She married a Chinese-American and took his (Chinese) surname, leading to much hilarity when someone makes the mistaken assumption that Jennifer [Chinese surname] is of Asian decent and a blonde haired, blue eyed Greek shows up.
