Love this thread. Going to a great prep school and a great university let me get through adolescence without going off the deep end, and get to an adulthood with it's changing challenges and interests. The high level of education was not necessary to get me to a productive adulthood, but associating with high achievers then and now, makes my life more interesting.
It's a different world for my kids, who got the thin envelope, but are working on the careers they want, at the pace that fits each. Maybe they would be further along with a peer group of high achievers in high school and college, but only God knows how they would respond to that environment.
