I'd say that is probably a pretty safe statement.

Once again I marvel at how the expectations have changed for Stanford football.

In 1978 Bill Walsh finished 8-4 and Stanford fans prayed he would stay around (he of course didn't, as every NFL team was after him).

In 2014 David Shaw went 8-5 and people are suggesting he better not do it again or he will be in real trouble.

And we don't have a James Lofton.  We might have a Darrin Nelson.  Will Hogan be the next Dils/Benjamin and win the NCAA passing title?
