Is there actually discussion about getting rid of Shaw on the other boards? I certainly don't recall it here. There is definitely frustration from many about the way we have lost certain individual games (e.g., Fiesta Bowl) and I think we were all trying to figure out what in the world was holding us back in the early part of last season. But I don't recall anyone even hinting at Shaw's dismissal as the best way to fix the problems.
On the contrary, there has been an abundance of talk here about the concern that he will eventually be lured away by a bigger paycheck at another college (not likely) or by the pros (I have no personal insight). I believe Shaw and Stanford have each found a perfect mate. I would be happy if he ended up being another Joe Paterno (exclusively in terms of job tenure). Shaw is very intelligent. As the game evolves he seems to me to be more likely and more able to evolve than almost all of his contemporaries. I admit, though, if we have 3 or 4 seasons below .500 and without beating the weenies, I reserve the right to change my mind. ;D
