Let's suppose Sark has a few drinks after a practice or game at a local bar, then has an accident driving home where someone is injured.  Would the university be subject to civil litigation by the injured party if they knew he had a problem but took no action?

I am not a lawyer, but it seems to me that treatment of some kind is a must-do as a risk mitigation.

Not a lawyer either, but unless he is acting on behalf of U$C at the time of the accident I don't think the University would be liable. So if he were driving to see a recruit I think there would be a case against the University, but if he were merely driving home there wouldn't be.
