[quote author=Boston Card link=topic=12924.msg130767#msg130767 date=1443241432]Tough to say that there has been a ton of offensive ineptitude today. 28 points in 2 1/2 quarters.

I was referring to the two plays that preceded the blown call, in which the offense netted -2 yards. But agree to disagree I suppose.

I understand that. But in the course of 40+ plays, you are going to have a couple of negative ones. Overall, though, it is hard to complain about the offense today, and there is a reason you get three downs to advance the ball. Sometimes you will have a third and long, and we have the players to convert those downs (see third and 9 against SC last week). But part of that depends on players beating the defenders one-on-one, which of course depends on the refs flagging blatant holds.

I wasn't complaining about the offense as a whole. I was simply addressing the armchair analysis that the refs somehow cost the Cardinal points on that drive. The Cardinal cost the Cardinal points. It's easy, and perhaps even lazy, to blame the refs when your offense nets -2 yards and misses a chip shot field goal after starting a drive nine yards from the end zone. Was it a bad no-call? Of course. Has the offense as a whole been impressive? Yes. But the offense on that drive sucked, which was my point, and unless you consider negative yardage and 0 points impressive when starting from the 9 I'm really not sure why you insist on arguing with me about it. But to each their own, let's just enjoy the rest of the game.
