I've seen that called. It was against the Chicago B.ears, in 1985, I think. It was one of those goal-line plays where the B.ears sent Refrigerator Perry in to block, and after Walter Payton was initially stopped (but not yet down), the Refrigerator grabbed him and threw him into the end zone.
(Actually, now that I think about it, they may have called him for illegal use of hands rather than helping the ball carrier. I can't remember for sure.)
