Those words were that I thought you had Sanders on the top of the list of those needing more touches. That certainly seemed the sense of your post. But I'd never hold you to it.
Quote: And all I'm saying is two things: (1) I like Sanders' finish -- 1/6 of his runs turn into TDs. and (2) I am worried about McCaffrey getting injured, especially as we get into the tougher part of the season.
So, I guess you are saying Sanders should get some of McCaffrey's carries (or catches?). Maybe also some of Wright's non-short yardage carries?
That's a reasonable position. How many?
On the season,
McCaffrey 21 carries/game
Wright 7.6 carries/game (about 4 short yardage situations)
Sanders 4.8 carries/game
Love 2 carries/game
Hogan 2.4 carries/game (taking out sacks)
Over the past two games (to get an idea of trends),
McCaffrey 23.5 carries/game
Wright 8.5
Sanders 5.5
Love 3.5
Hogan 1.0
Overall running is up - there's an uptick for all four backs roughly evenly split. Hogan is down due to injury, presumably will go back up. We probably won't have the luxury to run quite so often as we did vs OSU and UA.
It makes me think about what I would like to see. At the same total as the last two games it would probably be something like:
McCaffrey 20
Wright 7Â (still expect about 4 short yardage plays per game)
Sanders 7
Love 5
Hogan 3
... doesn't really look all that different from now. And those will all scale down a bit in games we don't run as much.
Would that be enough for Sanders?
